💀Your Business Dies Without Reviews! (WOM)

🗺Traveling is something my family and I looovvveeee to do! Every year we go on vacation together, typically 7 or 8 of us. We plan our entire trip months in advance and my daughter-in-law, also named Chandler, creates our itinerary.

(yes, my oldest son, Chandler married a lovely young lady also named Chandler!)

We have several vacation planning meetings before we make final decisions. We book our accommodations on Airbnb. We research restaurants to find the best local fare, unique coffee shops, attractions for children, and hot spots for a fun adults’ night out. We watch YouTube videos of each location we are considering posted by other travelers and rank each place as ‘a must’ or ‘if we get a chance to’.

Lastly, before making final decisions, can you guess what the last step is??

We go to Google & Airbnb and check the reviews!!! (WORD OF MOUTH)

📣Reviews are the real and true reputation of a business! People have visited and had such a great experience or terrible experience, they felt compelled…inspired even, to leave a review.

If a place has a rating of 4.8 out of 5, overall, it’s a good place. If it’s like 3.5 or less, we look for someplace else to spend our time and money. Even if we don’t read many of the reviews, Google, Facebook, Airbnb, etc. have done the work to let us know if a business we are considering visiting has mostly good reviews or if they tanked.

One other thing we check with reviews is how many reviews does the business have? If they have just a handful of reviews, we will read some of the reviews and see what they say. Because, here’s the deal, if a business only has 10 reviews and 9 were positive and one was terrible, the overall review rating doesn’t look so good!

It may not seem fair but that’s how it works. The only way to make sure that your business stands out and known for the great service and/or products you deliver is to have LOTS OF REVIEWS!

I’ve seen some really creative ways to get reviews. One trip I took with my sister to Myrtle Beach landed us in a seafood restaurant that had decent reviews but what was surprising is the amount of reviews they had. Like over 10,000 reviews; more than triple what other restaurants had. I was intrigued…so we went.

We had our dinner and upon being presented with the check, the server said, “If you go to Google and leave us review before you leave, we will take 10% off your bill.”

There were 5 of us and it wasn’t overly pricey but it wasn’t cheap either so…

You guessed it…we added to their more than 10,000 review pot and left a review, collecting a discount on our way out.

It was a very creative way to get reviews and keep their restaurant packed but what do you do if you don’t have a clientele where something like that works?
